Cnemidophorus sexlineatus stephensi, or Texas yellow-faced racerunner, is distinguished from the other subspecies in Texas by smaller adult size (<70 mm snout-to-vent length as opposed to 70 mm or greater for the other subspecies), frequent absence of a vertebral stripe (typically present in the other subspecies), and yellowish coloration on the face and neck (Trauth 1992).
