Campina Grande
(kəmpē`nä grän`dĭ), city (1991 pop. 326,307), Paraíba state, NE Brazil, on the Borborema plateau. It is an important commercial and financial center and a shipping point for products from the Brazilian interior (hides and skins, cotton, and agave). Campina Grande manufactures metal products, plastics, pharmaceuticals, leather, and textiles. Other industries in the city are linked to agriculture and cattle raising; beans, cassava, sisal, and cotton are the chief agricultural products. Campina Grande
a city in northeastern Brazil, in the state of Paraíba. Population, 196, 000 (1970). It has a railroad station. Campina Grande is a center for textile and food industries. There are also ferrous metallurgical, chemical, furniture, and leather enterprises.
