Cape Basin

 

a drop in the ocean bottom in the southeast Atlantic, situated between the continental slope of Africa and the Mid-Atlantic and Walvis ridges.

The Cape Basin extends from north to south for about 1, 500km and from west to east for 1,000 km. Its maximum depth is5, 000 m. The surface of the bottom is hilly, with underwater volcanoes that reach 3, 000 m in height. The sediments are redooze.
