a mountain massif in the Canadian Rockies, in British Columbia. Length, about 300 km; average elevation, 3,000 m (the highest elevation is Mount Sir Wilfrid Laurier, 3,581 m). The range is composed of Precambrian crystalline rocks, with some Miocene basalts and andesites, and is sharply dissected by trough valleys. There are glaciers. The mountains are covered with sparse coniferous forests; above 2,000 m, by alpine meadows. Wells Gray Provincial Park is in the southern part of the range.
