Actix, the global provider of wireless network performance engineering solutions, today announced that Dobson Cellular Systems -- a subsidiary of Dobson Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:DCEL) -- has chosen Actix's CellOpt AFP for automatic frequency planning for its GSM/GPRS and TDMA wireless networks.
Actix CellOpt AFP enables Dobson engineers to automate frequency-planning tasks for its GSM/GPRS network retunes.
Actix's CellOpt AFP tool will give Dobson the ability to frequency plan our network more efficiently than ever before, thus allowing us to meet operational performance targets while minimizing investments in new infrastructure," said Tim Duffy, senior vice president and chief technical officer.
First introduced by ComOpt in 1997, CellOpt AFP has become a leading frequency planning tool employed in more than 100 wireless markets in more than 30 countries.
By using CellOpt AFP, Nextel has achieved significant capacity and quality improvement from our spectrum while at the same time achieving lower levels of capital expenditure.
We believe this new generation of CellOpt AFP will become the de-facto standard in frequency planning," stated Joachim Samuelsson, CEO of ComOpt.
