Cellular Concrete

Cellular Concrete

the general name of a group of lightweight concretes whose structure is characterized by the presence of a substantial number of artificially produced sealed pores, or cells. The cells, which range from 0.5 to 2 mm in size, may account for as much as 85 percent of the volume of the concrete. Two main types of cellular concrete are distinguished: gas concrete and foam concrete. The latter is obtained by mixing a cement slurry or solution with a specially prepared stable foam.

cellular concrete, aerated concrete

A light-weight product consisting of portland cement, cement-silica, cement-pozzolan, lime-pozzolan, or lime-silica pastes, or pastes containing blends of these ingredients and having a homogeneous cell structure, produced by gas-forming chemicals or foaming agents.
