Ceyhan

 

a city in southern Turkey in the vilayet of Adana on the Ceyhan River. Population, 40,700 (1965). Railroad station. Ceyhan is the center of an agricultural region (grains, vegetables, sesame, and cotton). It has textile and food enterprises.


Ceyhan

 

a river in Turkey, on the southeast part of the peninsula of Asia Minor. Length, 474 km; basin area, 21,200 sq km. It rises in the western outcroppings of the Armenian Taurus and flows across the £ukur Ova lowlands on its lower reaches until it enters the Gulf of Iskenderun on the Mediterranean Sea. The water level is highest in the winter and spring. The average discharge of water is about 230 cu m per sec. The river is not navigable. Its waters are used for irrigation.

TEHRAN (FNA)- The ISIL is illegally exporting massive amount of Iraq's oil to the Turkish port of Ceyhan from its refineries in the Iraqi Kurdistan region despite the claims by Kurdish officials denying that the Takfiri terrorist group is using their pipelines and the ongoing Russian aerial bombardment of oil tankers trying to cross into Turkey, media reports said.
That claim, though, can't account for the massive amounts of oil that ISIS has been able to get from its territory in Iraqi Kurdistan to refineries in southeastern Turkey and to the port of Ceyhan near Adana.
