Chon

a group of linguistically related South American Indian tribes of Argentina and Chile that included the Tehuelche of Patagonia and the Ona, or Shelknam, who constituted the eastern group of the Fuegians. The Chonan languages have been little studied. Most of the Indians of the Chon group had been exterminated by the early 20th century, and in the mid-20th century they numbered in the dozens.
