Ciudad Madero

 

a city in eastern Mexico, in the state of Tamaulipas; a northern suburb of Tampico. Population, 109,200 (1973). Ciudad Madero, located in the Gulf of Mexico Oil and Gas Basin, has enterprises of the chemical and petroleum-refining industries.

Two workers died after being overcome by a burst of flames in an accident that also injured 11 at a refinery in northern Mexico, state-run oil company Pemex said.The accident took place at a fuel barrel storage area in the Ciudad Madero refinery just outside the port city of Tampico in Tamaulipas state while the facility's coking plant was undergoing maintenance, the company said in a post on its Twitter feed.Pemex said via Twitter that one person had been killed.
Last week, assailants killed 16 people in one day in the northern city of Ciudad Madero, and attackers burst into a drug rehab centre in Chihuahua and shot 19 men to death.
