Clausius virial theorem
Clausius virial theorem[′klȯz·ē·əs ′vir·ē·əl ′thir·əm]
The theorem that in a system of particles whose positions and velocities are bounded, the total kinetic energy of the system averaged over a long period of time equals the virial of the system. Also known as virial theorem.
