The dimensions of a clear zone depend on the type of runway and the distance required to reach a height of 50 ft (15 m) in the approach surface. When a clearway is provided, the approach area begins at the end of the clearway. When the stop-way is longer than the clearway, the approach area begins 200 ft from the end of the stop-way.
