Coal-Bearing Capacity

 

(Russian, uglenosnost’), the aggregate of data on the following: number of coal beds (total number and the number meeting specified requirements); percentage of the coal-bearing strata that consists of coal beds; distribution of beds over a cross section of the coal-bearing strata; equivalence of the beds; thickness, structure, and degree of persistence of each bed; petrographic types; chemical and technological properties of the coals; and patterns of spatial variation of the coals owing to the conditions under which the coal-bearing formations developed.
