Koninck, Philips de
Koninck or Coningh, Philips de (fēˈlĭps də kōˈnĭngk, kōˈnĭng), 1619–88, Dutch landscape and portrait painter. His panoramic landscapes, rich and warm in tone, suggest dramatic atmosphere and space. They are among the best in the Dutch landscape tradition. A number of his drawings have been preserved. Koninck's paintings include Entrance to a Forest and Landscape (both: Rijksmus.), Landscape with Hunting Party (National Gall., London), and a landscape in the Metropolitan Museum.
