In spaces with high latent load or high outside air requirements, where primary air provides most of the cooling along with dehumidification, application of active beams operating as a constant air volume system becomes less desirable and the COPA ratio loses its importance.
HEMCO's UniFlow SE Aire-Stream Fume Hood series is UL 1805 certified, and offered in 48, 60, 72 and 96" widths in either constant air volume or restricted bypass models.
(2008), where they analyzed 4 air handling units, single-duct constant air volume with terminal reheat (CVRH), dual-duct constant air volume (DDCV), single-duct variable air volume (SDVAV) and dual-duct variable air volume (DDVAV).
But not every lab requires the latest in air-handling technology to benefit, and many labs simply transfer from constant air volume (CV) reheat systems to variable air volume (VAV) technology.
HEMCO's UniFLow SE Aire-Stream Fume Hood series is UL 1805 certified and offered in 48", 60", 72" and 96" widths in either constant air volume or restricted bypass models.
Thus, the air handling units were operated as constant air volume systems.
In addition, many unitary systems use constant air volume (CAV), which can encounter difficulties maintaining acceptable indoor humidity levels, particularly when sensible loads decrease but latent loads remain relatively high.
Low flow fume hoods, which use 40% less air in a constant air volume (CAV) system, were installed to lower ongoing cooling and heating expenses.
HEMCO's SE AireStream Fume Hoods are UL 1805 certified and offered in 48", 60", 72" and 96" widths in either constant air volume or restricted bypass models.
Many constant air volume (CAV) systems were installed in the 1950s and 1960s.
The status quo To judge by responses to our survey, most labs are equipped with fume hoods having constant air volume (CAV) exhaust systems (84.7%), as opposed to variable air volume (VAV) systems (25.2%).
