The base structure module consists of a base frame, ball bearing brackets, a constant-force spring to apply a restoration force on the mechanical driving part during fail-safe operation, and limit switches to monitor and judge the status of each mission mode.
Subsequently, the driving part is automatically stowed along the fail-safe holes on the bearing structure by the restoration force of the constant-force spring. This results in the mechanical constraint between the motor and the locking pins on the driving part being released from the locking pin holder bracket, with the driving structure module being automatically stowed to a dedicated position for the fail-safe as shown in Figure 4(c).
where [T.sub.m] is the required motor torque; [T.sub.l] is the limit switch torque; [T.sub.c] is the constant-force spring torque; [T.sub.b] is the bearing friction torque.
The deployed mechanism was successfully stowed to the designated position for the fail-safe function by the restoration force of the constant-force spring as shown in Figure 6(c).

Helwig Carbon changed the OEM design and used a constant-force spring
, in addition to newly designed carbon slip rings and a bank-of-two brush holder.
* Subassembled constant-force spring
: In a smaller component for another electric-motor manufacturer, it made sense to rivet a constant-force brush spring onto the spring frame while the spring was captured.
* Constant-force springs
that provide optimum brush pressure.
It is a major supplier of medical pressure gauges and constant-force springs
and reels as well as monitoring, testing and calibration instruments for the medical equipment industry.
