continuous-wave radar

[kən¦tin·yə·wəs ¦wāv ′rā‚där]
(engineering)
A radar system in which a transmitter sends out a continuous flow of radio energy; the target reradiates a small fraction of this energy to a separate receiving antenna. Also known as continuous-wave Doppler radar.

used its microwave power module and digital RF technology to assemble the Tactical Radar Jammer (TRJ), designed to counter pulse, pulse-Doppler and continuous-wave radar threats.
As outlined to JED, the DAS comprises Litton's ALR-69 RWR, Elta's EL/M-2160 pulse Doppler missile approach warner, two Northrop Grumman ALQ-162 continuous-wave radar jammers and a Danish-developed chaff/flare dispensing subsystem.
For the international market, Litton has formed the Integrated Helicopter EW System (IHEWS) alliance, offering customers a "one stop" defensive aids package which can be "mixed and matched" from the already noted US Army AH-1/AH-64 equipment plus the ALQ-162 continuous-wave radar jammer, the AVR-2 laser warner and the ALE-47 "smart" dispenser.
As JED understands it, IHEWS incorporated the Litton Pegasus radar warning receiver (RWR), ITT's AN/ALQ-136 pulse radar jammer, Northrop's AN/ALQ-162 continuous-wave radar jammer, a variant of Lockheed-Sanders' AN/ALQ-144 fixed-source infrared jammer, Tracor's "threat adaptive" AN/ALE-47 decoy dispenser and Hughes' AN/AVR-2 laser warner.
Wideband analysis with up to 5 GHz bandwidth of frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar (FMCW) signals for automotive radar or A&D applications up to 77 GHz will be performed using an R&S FSW85 signal and spectrum analyzer, an R&S RTO2064 oscilloscope as a digitizer and an R&S SMW200A vector signal generator with an R&S SMZ90 frequency multiplier.

With a supply voltage of 0.9 V and an output power above 10 dBm, the continuous-wave radar transmitter operates in the 79-GHz band.
Continuous-wave radar signals have experienced a revival in both military and civilian applications and are the subject of Chapter 10.

Frequency-modulated continuous-wave radars have diverse applications, such as radio altimetry, liquid level meters, navigation radars, vehicle anti-collision systems, precision measurements of distance from targets, small motion measurements, among others [2].
