Germany gets 15% of its electricity from windfarms but because of their unreliablility have not been able to shut down even one conventional power station.
Indeed, wind generation, for a guaranteed supply, relies almost totally on back-up by conventional power stations.

The mere fact that these monsters operate at only 19% of their claimed capacity - due to wind variation - and require constant back-up by conventional power stations, makes it impossible to comprehend such vandalism.
Unless any of the proposed renewable sources are consistent enough to allow us to completely shutdown conventional power stations they will continue to simply duplicate power we have already burnt fossil fuel to produce
