Coquilhatville

(kôkēyävēl`), city (1984 pop. 137,291), capital of Équateur prov., W Congo (Kinshasa), a port on the Congo River. It is a commercial and transportation center and has tanning and fishing industries.

Mbandaka

 

(Coquilhatville until 1966), a city in Zaýre, the administrative center of Equator Province. Located on the left bank of the Congo (Zaire) River where the Ruki River flows into it. Population, 86,700 (1967). Food and metalworking industries are located there.
