In west-central GA, southwest of Atlanta; organized Jun 9, 1825 from Indian lands. Name Origin: For Gen. William McIntosh (1775-1825), a half-blooded Creek Indian and the head chief of the Coweta Indians of the Creek nation. The name may mean 'falls,' with reference to those on the Chattahoochee River
