Cutler Bay(redirected from Cutler Ridge)
Cutler Bay, (2020 pop.45,425), Miami-Dade co., SE Fla.; inc. 2005. Previously known as the unicorporated town of Cutler Ridge, the area was named for Dr. William Cutler from Massachussetts, who settled there c.1880. The railroad reached it c.1900, and industrialist Charles Deering (founder of International Harvester) built a large estate there in 1922. Hurricane Andrew (1992) made landfall in the area, creating extensive damage, and inspiring local residents to begin a drive to incorporate the town. The name was changed to Cutler Bay following its incorporation.
