Informix Corporation has formed a strategic partnership with the Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) to release the Informix NAG Financial Datablade module.
So-called DataBlade modules may be used with the system, thus offering new types and associated functions that may be used in columns of database tables.
XML-support is immediately available with the newest version of Informix's Web DataBlade module.
The implementation is supported through Informix's Web Datablade module.
In addition to its deal with Informix announced this week (12/10/98) whereby Cloudscape is offered to Informix customers who want a 'lite' database to enable offline workers to store data, the Oakland, California- based company is also about to start work on a DataBlade to plug into the Informix architecture, although Informix thought it might not turn out to be a DataBlade eventually, but some other form of plug-in.
Montage is extensible--they sell a server and modules called "DataBlades" (as in "give them the razor, and sell the blades").
