(del-fÿ -nŭs) (Dolphin) A small constellation in the northern hemisphere near Cygnus, the brightest stars being of 3rd magnitude (α) and 4th magnitude (β, γ); all three are double stars. Abbrev.: Del; genitive form: Delphini; approx. position: RA 20.5h, dec +10°; area: 189 sq deg.

(“the dolphin”), a constellation of the northern sky. Its three brightest stars have apparent stellar magnitudes of 3.7, 3.8, and 4. The best conditions for observations are in June, July, and August. Delphinus is visible throughout the USSR.
