Zagriazhskii, Dimitrii Andreevich


Born 1807, died after 1860. Russian inventor of the caterpillar drive. In 1837 he created “a carriage with movable tracks,” that is, a carriage with a caterpillar drive, for which he obtained a patent in the same year. Lacking funds, Zagriazhskii could not convert his invention into reality, and the patent was declared invalid in 1839.
