Dioctyl Phthalate

the di-n-octyl ester of orthophthalic acid, C6H4(COOC8H17)2; a colorless oily liquid with a boiling point of 340° C. Refractive index n20D 1.482. It is insoluble in water but is miscible with benzine and mineral oils. It is made from n-octyl alcohol and phthalic anhydride in the presence of acid catalysts. Dioctyl phthalate is a plasticizer for polystyrene, polyvinylchloride, and other plastics.

As a result the prices of phthalic anhydride (PA), which is used as the basic material for dioctyl phthalate (DOP) surged.
Dioctyl Phthalate. Dioctyl phthalate has a similar side chain structure to 2-ethylhexyl benzene phthalate but lacks the additional benzene grouping.
In one study, ESCA and SSIMS were both used to measure the effectiveness of a new steel cleaning process in removing hydrocarbon, dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and organic silicon.
MCPP is a metabolite of dioctyl phthalate (DOP), but also a minor metabolite of diisooctyl phthalate (DiOP), diisodecyl phthalate (DiDP), DiNP, DEHP, butylbenzyl phthalate (BBzP), and DBP, making it difficult to relate this metabolite to exposure to any specific phthalate.
AH other rubber ingredients, such as dioctyl phthalate (DOP) were commercial grade.
The group's phase-2 expansion project in Ningbo will require a total investment of US$2.3 billion, or about NT$70 billion, and cover the products of PVC (polyvinyl chloride), EVA (ethylenevinyl acetate), AE (acrylic ester), SAP (superabsorbent polymer) produced by FPC; DOP (dioctyl phthalate), BPA (bisphenol A) produced by Nan Ya; and PS (polystyrene), ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid) and synthetic phenol produced by FCFC.

In all the experiments pertaining to nitrile rubbers, a masterbatch containing 100 phr Hycar 1042 (a general purpose nitrile rubber with good processing characteristics and high physical properties), 65 phr N365 carbon black, 15 phr dioctyl phthalate, 5 phr zinc oxide and 1 phr stearic acid was used.
But Nan Ya, with EPS hitting NT$1.15 (US$0.03), is considered as the firm with turnaround potentials because of the continued hot sales of EG (ethylene glycol), DOP (dioctyl phthalate) and electronic raw materials.
Dioctyl phthalate and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) are the most common plasticizers for the preparation of semi-soft to all-soft PVC composites.
