HughesNet

A satellite-based Internet service from Hughes Network Systems, LLC, an EchoStar company. Offering speeds of 25 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up, plans are based on data usage like a cellular provider. Launched as DirecPC in 1996, it was renamed DIRECWAY in 2002 and HughesNet in 2012. With service initially geared to rural users in the U.S., HughesNet expanded to South America starting in 2016.
