Facilities:Beach, picnic area, concession stand, showers, restrooms, fire rings; RV park and hang gliding facility nearby.
Activities:Swimming, surfing, volleyball.
Special Features:This wide beach, located beneath the takeoff path for the Los Angeles International Airport, features a 3-mile long shoreline. The park is operated by Los Angeles County.

The whale's carcass (http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Gray-Whale-Carcass-Washes-Ashore-on-Los-Angeles-Beach-385134671.html) first appeared in Los Angeles County's Dockweiler Beach ahead of the July 4 weekend. After complaints of an awful smell, officials towed the massive animal back out to sea.
The 33-day coast-to-coast trip started at Dockweiler Beach, Calif., near Los Angeles International Airport--which was to be the destination of the four doomed, hijacked aircraft--and ended at the Pentagon.
