Doroszewski, Witold Jan
Born May 1, 1899, in Moscow. Polish Slavic linguist. Specialist in general linguistics, lexicology, dialectology, and philology.
Doroszewski became a professor at the University of Warsaw in 1929 and a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences in 1952. In 1932 he became editor of the journal Poradnik jézykowy (Language Guide). The Dictionary of the Polish Language (vols. 1-11, 1958-69) was published under the editorship of Doroszewski.
