ELFEXT

(Equal Level FEXT) A calculation that normalizes the results of a FEXT measurement, because it takes attenuation into account. It is derived by subtracting the attenuation of the interfering pair from the far end crosstalk (FEXT) that it has caused in the interfered pair. See FEXT.

Power sum NEXT and ELFEXT (PSNEXT, PSELFEXT) represent the addition of crosstalk noise from each group of three pairs onto the fourth pair.
The parameters that are tested for CAT 6 are the same as for Enhanced CAT 5, except that the performance limits of attenuation, pair-to-pair NEXT, power sum NEXT, ELFEXT, power sum ELFEXT and return loss, are more stringent, and the testing frequency range of CAT 6 is 250 MHz--more than twice that of enhanced 100 MHz.

The LT 8600 is a high-performance tester that has Level III accuracy, two-way return loss, power sum NEXT, ACR & ELFEXT, and identification of distance-to-fault tests.
When used with next-generation cable, Giga-Channel provides channel performance exceeding proposed Category 6 requirements, including power sum NEXT, power sum ELFEXT, attenuation, and return loss.
