Eckbo, Garrett

(1910–  ) landscape architect; born in Cooperstown, N.Y. Influenced by Gropius, he specialized in clean, clear spaces for public use, designing university campuses and gardens on the West Coast (1940–65). He began to focus on ecology in 1980.
