resistor color code[ri′zis·tər ′kəl·ər ‚kōd]
Code adopted by the Electronic Industries Association to mark the values of resistance on resistors in a readily recognizable manner; the first color represents the first significant figure of the resistor value, the second color the second significant figure, and the third color represents the number of zeros following the first two figures; a fourth color is sometimes added to indicate the tolerance of the resistor.
