The unit of charge in the electrostatic centimeter-gram-second system of units, equal to the charge which exerts a force of 1 dyne on an equal charge at a distance of 1 centimeter in a vacuum; equal to approximately 3.3356 × 10-10 coulomb. Abbreviated statC. Also known as franklin (Fr); unit charge.
