We are going from Isachsen on Ellef Ringnes
Island, up through the Sverdrup Channel, to Eureka on the Fosheim Peninsula (lovely names), and are flying in a twin-engine Otter over the Beaufort Sea, north of Axel Heiberg Island.
Diatoms of North America: The freshwater floras of Prince Patrick, Ellef Ringnes

The plan is to finish at the last certified position of the North Magnetic Pole, 32km from Isachson, on Ellef Ringnes

Researchers found them first on Ellef Ringnes
Island and more recently on Prince Patrick Island, both along the rim of the Arctic Ocean.
In those early years, he recalled in a 2003 interview, he found himself "going to the Arctic in April, to the mountains in June, and to the sea in September." In May 1961, while on an oceanographic sampling traverse over the Beaufort Sea west of Ellef Ringnes
Island, Bernie's aircraft, a ski-equipped DHC Otter, went through the ice on landing.
The finish is at the last officially certified position of the North Magnetic pole which is 32km from Isachson, a derelict "Dew Line" based on Ellef Ringnes
In May to early June 1955, materiel was cached by a ski-wheeled DC-3 aircraft at three sites on Ellesmere, Ellef Ringnes

These dates precede all other reports of bunting arrival north of 73 [degrees] N in eastern Nunavut (24 April, Bylot Island, Lepage et al., 1998; 29 April, Isachsen, Ellef Ringnes
Island, MacDonald, 1961; 27 April, Alert, Ellesmere Island, MacDonald, 1953; 13 May, Resolute Bay, Geale, 1971).
For example, the mean concentration of TKN (generally the most abundant biologically available nitrogen species) was lower (0.171 mg [l.sup.-1]) in the Cape Bounty lakes than in small lakes and ponds surveyed across Melville Island, Banks Island, Bathurst Island, and elsewhere in the eastern Arctic Archipelago (Hamilton et al., 2001; Lim et al., 2001, 2005; Keatley et al., 2007), but higher than mean values from small lakes and ponds from Victoria Island, Ellef Ringnes
Island, and Devon Island (Michelutti et al., 2002; Antoniades et al., 2003b; Lim and Douglas, 2003).
