Emtsa

 

an urban-type settlement in Plesetsk Raion, Arkhangel’sk Oblast, RSFSR. It has a railroad station on the Moscow-Arkhangelsk line, 172 km south of Arkhangel’sk. There are lumbering enterprises and railroad workshops.


Emtsa

 

a river in Arkhangel’sk Oblast, RSFSR, a left tributary of the Severnaia Dvina (flowing into its Repnyi channel). Length, 188 km; basin area, 14,100 sq km. The Emtsa is fed by rain and snow. The average yearly rate of flow at the village of Sel’tso is about 70 cu m per sec. The river is suitable for floating timber and is navigable on its lower reaches (up to about 25 km from its mouth).
