Erdrich, (Karen) Louise

(1954–  ) Ojibwa writer; born in Little Falls, Mont. A child of the Bureau of Indian Affairs boarding schools, she received her B.A. at Dartmouth (1976) and an M.A. at Johns Hopkins University (1979). Her writing has won many prizes and awards, and her books include Love Medicine (1984), The Beet Queen (1986), Tracks (1988), and Crown of Columbus (1991).
