Ermentau

 

a city (settlement until 1965), the administrative center of the Ermentau Raion, Tselinograd Oblast, Kazakh SSR. Ermentau is situated on the western slope of the Ermentau Mountains; it is a railway station on the Tselinograd-Pavlodar line, 140 km northeast of Tselinograd. Population, 15,000 in 1970. Ermentau has crushed-stone and lime plants, a creamery, and railway-transport enterprises.
