Essei

 

a lake in the northern part of the Middle Siberian Plateau, in the Khatanga River basin, Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR. The lake has an area of approximately 238 sq km; it is shallow, with elevated, straight banks and almost no coves. Lake Essei is fed by snow and rain. The Buordakh, Sordongnokh, Sigmoian, and other rivers feed it, and the Sikas’ian River (a left tributary of the Kotui) drains it. The lake abounds withfish.
