History of the Russian Church (vols. 1–2: 1880–1917), covering the period from the tenth century to the mid-16th. contains a great deal of factual material. In his sociopolitical outlook he was close to the liberal wing of the Westernizers. Golubinskii steadfastly refuted many church legends, thereby incurring the disfavor of the official church and the Synod.
