FOAF

[Usenet] Friend Of A Friend. The source of an unverified, possibly untrue story. This term was not originated by hackers (it is used in Jan Brunvand's books on urban folklore), but is much better recognised on Usenet and elsewhere than in mainstream English.

FOAF

(1) "Friend of a friend." See digispeak.

(2) (Friend Of AFriend) A language for defining people and their relation to other people and to things in order to link together data on the Web. For example, the FOAF "Person" class includes properties such as surname, familyName and schoolHomepage. FOAF files use the RDF format and are written in XML, RDFa and N3 syntax. See XML, RDFa, N3 and Semantic Web.
