Facebook Places

A location-based service from Facebook that allowed members to "check in" to venues and share that information with friends. Similar to the offering by foursquare, Facebook introduced Places in 2010 but shuttered it as such in 2011, only to resurrect it later on in a Google business directory service. See Facebook.
