Federation of Arab Republics
a union of Egypt, Syria, and Libya proclaimed in an agreement signed by the heads of the three states on Apr. 17, 1971. Because of the separatist policy of A. Sadat and the aggravation of relations among the member states, the federation has virtually disintegrated.
