Rozmyslov, Fedor


Date of birth unknown; died 1771. Russian navigator.

From 1768 to 1769, Rozmyslov led an expedition to study Novaia Zemlia. He made the first survey of the strait of Matochkin Shar and conducted regular observations and gathered materials on the natural features of Novaia Zemlia. Excerpts from his travel diary were first published in the book Transactions Published by the State Admiralty Department Relating to Navigation, Science, and Philology (1820).
