Flagg, Josiah Foster

(1788–1853) dentist, anatomical artist; born in Boston, Mass. In Boston, he designed the first variable forceps for tooth extraction (1828) and produced the first "mineral teeth" (1833), artificial teeth made out of porcelain. He was also an anatomical artist of note, contributing illustrations to numerous works.
