Ford, Wendell H.

(1924–  ) U.S. senator, governor; born in Daviess County, Ky. Kentucky's Democratic governor (1971–74), he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1974. There he staunchly defended the interests of the tobacco industry. He was elected Democratic whip in 1990.
