Fort Macon State Park


Location:2 miles east of Atlantic Beach on NC 58.
Facilities:Picnic area, picnic shelters, trails, bathhouse, exhibit hall, concession stand (open during summer).
Activities:Surf fishing, swimming, hiking, fort tour, nature programs.
Special Features:The restored fort, which guarded Beaufort Harbor during the Civil War, features Civil War era artifacts and a World War II barracks. Tours are available during the summer months and by appointment.
