Location:10 miles southwest of Lake City off SD 10.
Facilities:14 modern campsites (10 with electrical hookups), 3 cabins, 2 tipis, picnic areas, picnic shelter (é), hiking trails, bridle trail, boat rentals, historic site, visitor center, museum, gift shop.
Activities:Camping, boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Originally established in 1864 to provide military protection for the Minnesota frontier, Fort Sisseton is one of the best preserved prairie forts in the nation. The officers' quarters, stone barracks, powder magazine, guard house and other buildings remain. Guided tours by costumed soldiers are available.
