(fo͞oko͞ochē`yämä), city (1990 pop. 66,506), Kyoto prefecture, W central Honshu, Japan, on the Yura River. Now an important railway junction and an agricultural market, it was a major castle town during the Edo era.
The joint venture, to be set up in Kobe Steel's plant in Fukuchiyama, Kyoto Prefecture, will take over production of solid welding wires from the Kobe Steel plant and JFE's plant in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, with annual sales estimated at 6 billion yen, they said.
