Getter Ion Pump

 

a vacuum pump in which chemically active gases are removed by sorption using getters, and inert gases are removed as a result of intensive ionization as ions using an electric field. Getter ion pumps may be used to produce vacuum levels as low as 10–7 newtons per sq m, or 10–9 mm of mercury.
