a mud bath resort in Kurgan Oblast, RSFSR, 184 km from Kurgan and 70 km from Cheliabinsk, on the northwest bank of the salt lake Gor’koe in the forest-steppe country.

The climate at Gor’koe is distinctly continental, with a warm summer (average July temperature, 19° C) and a moderately cold winter (average January temperature, -17° C). Precipitation reaches approximately 300 mm per year. The therapeutic elements at the resort are the silty mud and salt water of the lake. The resort includes sanatoriums for children from the ages of three to 14 suffering from diseases of the organs of motion and support and the aftereffects of poliomyelitis.
