Gospel Accounts of Easter

Gospel Accounts of Easter

Holy Week and Easter Sunday observances commemorate the events of the last days of Jesus' life, his death by crucifixion, and his resurrection (for more on crucifixion, see Cross). Each of the four Gospels - books in the Christian Bible that tell the story of Jesus' life - offers an account of these events. Although the gist of the story remains the same throughout the four Gospels, the details vary. These accounts may be found in the Gospel according to Matthew, Chapters 21-28, the Gospel according to Mark, Chapters 11-16, the Gospel according to Luke, Chapters 19-24, and the Gospel according to John, Chapters 12-21.
