Gregory, Herbert

Gregory, Herbert (Ernest)

(1869–1952) geologist, geographer; born in Middleville, Mich. He was responsible for building geography into the Yale University Geology Department (1898–1915). From 1919 until 1936 he was director of the Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii. He was highly regarded as a hydrologist and for his knowledge of the American West.
